The Rheumatology Service at South Georgia Medical Center helps patients who suffer from disorders of the connective tissue, joints and bones in which muscle and joint pain and stiffness are prominent.
Rheumatic disease affects people of all ages and ethnic groups. At SGMC, our Board Certified Rheumatologist works with a team of specialists including Orthopedics, Rehabilitation Services, Neurosciences, and Medical Imaging to offer a comprehensive range of clinical Rheumatology services.
Our rheumatologist’s diagnostic tests including X-rays, Bone densitometry, Nuclear medicine, and CT scans are available through SGMC’s Medical Imaging Services to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic disorders. Many requests for outpatient lab work can be performed at the Walk-In Lab on the ground floor of the Professional Building.
Common disorders include:
- Connective tissue disorders including myositis and vasculitis
- Crystal induced arthritis (gout)
- Inflammatory joint diseases
- Low back pain
- Soft tissue rheumatism
