SGMC Employee Immediate Financial Needs – Care Share

If you have immediate financial needs due to Hurricane Idalia please fill out the following Care Share application here or call the SGMC Foundation office with questions at 433-1071.

Printed applications are available in the SGMC Foundation office located on the 1st floor of the Administration building.

Food Assistance

We are working with Second Harvest to schedule a food distribution at SGMC specifically for SGMC employees. Please continue to check back here for details on date, time, and location.

Second Harvest will be hosting a food distribution for the community on Saturday, September 9th.

Assistance Available through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

On Thursday, September 7th, President Joe Biden approved the Georgia Disaster Declaration requested by the Governor Brian Kemp. Residents and business owners who sustained losses in Lowndes County due to Hurricane Idalia can begin applying for assistance.

County and City Utility Payment UPDATE:

Message from Valdosta City Utilities:
In the aftermath of the hurricane, we know that many of our citizens are facing financial difficulties. To help ease the burden, we will not be charging late fees or disconnecting water due to non-payment, with the grace period ending October 31st. We understand that times are tough, and we want to do everything we can to support our community during this challenging time. We are all in this together, and together we will rebuild and recover.

Message from Lowndes County Utilities:
To ease the financial burden in the wake of Idalia, Lowndes County, GA Utilities Department will suspend all late fees and water cut-offs from September 5th through October 31st. For more information, please contact the Utilities Department at 229-671-2500.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Free Professional Guidance

SGMC offers all employees access to free professional guidance for counseling, emotional support, financial planning, legal services, etc. Employees can find information here.

Tree Removal

Crisis Clean Up is providing assistance for personal property debris clean up and home repair after the storm. Call 1-800-451-1954 for assistance.
