Marshburn Named SGMC Chief Information Officer

South Georgia Medical Center announces the promotion of Chuck Marshburn to Chief Information Officer and HIPAA Security Officer. 

In this role, Marshburn will oversee clinical informatics, enterprise information technology, and information services. 

Marshburn has been with SGMC for nearly 25 years and has served in the interim role of the position since January. Prior to that, he served as Director of Information Services. 

“I look forward to leading the continued implementation of state-of-the-art technology that will positively impact our community and SGMC,” shared Marshburn. 

Marshburn holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia in Management Information Systems. He earned a Master’s of Business Administration from Valdosta State University with a focus in Healthcare Administration. He also received a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. 

Marshburn is married to his wife Brooke, and together they have two children, Lauren and Luke. 

He is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, Project Management Institute, and the Computing Technology Industry Association.
