Dr. Carbone comes to Valdosta with more than 20 years of healthcare experience. Originally from upstate NY, she practiced in the Hudson Valley region for several years as an allied health professional. Her passion for patient care motivated her further to pursue medical school, complete her Pediatric Residency, and remain dedicated to the care of sick children.
“When children are unwell, articulating their symptoms is not always possible. No two children are the same, so careful attention must be paid to their often subtle clinical & social cues,” says Dr. Carbone.
These cues are not only essential in management but of utmost importance when developing a relationship with concerned parents. “Parents will know their child in a way I never will, so actively listening to them is key.”
Carefully considering a child’s age, development, and family structure, coupled with open communication, lends to Dr. Carbone’s approach of a “tailored yet collaborative practice.” One that creates a welcoming environment where patients, families, and medical staff are all on the same team.
She utilizes this same approach alongside medical students and resident physicians to foster a dynamic & positive teaching environment. She is excited to be part of extending training to the next generation of physicians through SGMC Health and surrounding communities.
