William Courson, DO

Dr. William Courson is a board-certified Family Medicine physician providing comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages at SGMC Primary Care on Connell Road in Valdosta. A native of Valdosta, Dr. Courson is excited to return home and serve his community. He specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, including acute illnesses, injuries, chronic disease management, and preventive care. His goal is to build long-term relationships with patients and families, ensuring continuity of care throughout every stage of life.

Dr. Courson earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – Georgia Campus and completed his Family Medicine residency at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins. He is board-certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment.

With years of experience mentoring medical students, Dr. Courson looks forward to helping establish SGMC Health’s Family Medicine Residency program. SGMC Primary Care on Connell Road will serve as the continuity clinic for residents, providing hands-on training for future Family Medicine physicians.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Courson is an avid college football fan and enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs.
