Tooley Recognized as Hospital Hero

The Hospital Authority of Valdosta and Lowndes County, GA named Sandra Tooley as a Hospital Hero for January. Tooley began her career with SGMC in 2003 as a registered nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. She is currently a weekend Senior Staff RN in the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Tooley has worked in the ER, open heart surgery and critical care, and her career has given her opportunities to work at other medical centers in Albany, Tallahassee and Atlanta. In November, 2013, Tooley was elected to serve a 4-year term on the Valdosta City Council (representing District 2). In November 2017, she was re-elected to serve a second 4-year term and was also elected by her peers to serve as the Mayor Pro Tem. Her current term will expire at the end of 2021. According the Board Chairman Sam Allen, Councilwoman Tooley has dedicated her life to caring for others. She is currently the owner/operator of Delta Nurse Consulting and South Street Community Care House, both in Valdosta.  As a City of Valdosta Council member, Tooley continues to care for the health and welfare of those in her district, as well as those throughout the city, and looks forward to developing solid and trustworthy relationships with citizens.
