The Hospital Authority of Valdosta and Lowndes County, GA recognized Laci Crowdis, RN, for her teamwork and leadership skills as October’s Hospital Hero. Crowdis has worked for SGMC for the past eight years.

Crowdis works as the nurse manager in the Medical Imaging department.  Emergency Department Director Tina Miller nominated Crowdis for her quick response to ED imaging needs. When Crowdis was contacted, she immediately recalled additional staff and went to the ED to assist.

“Laci was all over the ED moving patients to and from the CT department to ensure each and every patient was scanned as needed,” said Miller.  “Laci stepped up and made it possible for the ED to move patients on through.”

Before Crowdis arrived, Miller had been concerned that an emergency code would have to be called to manage the influx of patients. However, with Laci’s advocacy, everything was handled in expert fashion.

Miller stated, “I really want to thank Laci for all her help and let you know she is a true asset to South Georgia Medical Center.”
