SGMC Health has recognized general surgeon Jared Sanders, MD, as the latest recipient of the Excellence in Care Physician Award, a biannual recognition presented by the SGMC Health Provider Wellness Committee.
Established in 2022, the award honors physicians who demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. Dr. Sanders was selected from approximately 70 nominations submitted by patients and SGMC Health team members.
Over the past nine months, Dr. Sanders received six individual nominations highlighting his consistent dedication to patient care and his professionalism across a variety of settings. Nominations described his thorough communication, attentiveness to patients and families, and commitment to ensuring questions are answered at every step of care.
Multiple nominators noted his ability to clearly explain complex procedures, provide reassurance during stressful situations, and remain accessible to patients beyond their hospital stay. Others emphasized his collaborative approach with staff and his ability to foster trust with both patients and colleagues.
One nomination described Dr. Sanders as a physician who “takes the time to explain everything in detail and ensures patients and families feel informed and supported before, during, and after care.” Additional feedback highlighted his responsiveness, professionalism, and the consistency of his patient-centered approach across each interaction.
Dr. Sanders has been with SGMC Health since 2016 and has served in several leadership roles throughout his tenure, including Chief of Medical Staff in 2023-2024.
