SGMC’s Berrien Campus will be facilitating blood collections in south Georgia by hosting a blood drive with Life South Community Blood Centers. The blood drive will take place on September 21, 2017 from 8am to 4:45pm at the SGMC Berrien Campus located at 1221 E. McPherson in Nashville, Georgia. Life South is the sole provider of blood and blood products for SGMC and its affiliates.

There is no replacement for human blood except human blood. Donating blood just one time can save up to three lives. One unit of blood can be separated into several components: red blood cells, plasma, cryoprecipitate, and platelets which promote blood clotting. Blood transfusions are needed in trauma and surgical situations and also give those with leukemia and other cancers a chance to live. Look for the Life South blood mobile parked outside the hospital. Walk-ins are welcome.
