SGMC Announces Plans for Smith Northview Campus

Posted on: August 25th, 2022

South Georgia Medical Center announced the reopening of its Smith Northview hospital emergency department and inpatient acute care beds located at 4280 N. Valdosta Rd. in North Lowndes County. Services are expected to open later this year.

The SGMC Smith Northview hospital is equipped with 45 inpatient beds, a 12 room emergency department and a complement of surgical and diagnostic capabilities. As the demand for hospital services across the region has increased, SGMC requested approval from the State of Georgia to fully reopen the SGMC Smith Northview hospital emergency and inpatient services in addition to other services previously in operation at this location. This request was recently approved by the State.

“We are excited to fully reopen the SGMC Smith Northview Hospital campus. With growing demands for emergency services, orthopedic surgical services and urgent care, the reopening of the Smith Northview Hospital campus and expansion of acute and ambulatory surgery programs enable us to better serve the needs of South Georgia and communities in North Florida,” said Ronald E. Dean, SGMC President and Chief Executive Officer.

Another SGMC Smith Northview campus change will include the relocation of SGMC’s Urgent Care. Previously operating inside the hospital, Urgent Care will remain on the campus, but move into a newly renovated building located at 4256 N. Valdosta Rd. Urgent Care provides immediate walk-in care for patients of all ages with non-life threatening illnesses and injuries.

The Smith Northview Campus also includes a walk-in lab, radiology services, and outpatient surgery. Additionally, it is home to SGMC Neurology and the SGMC Sleep Center.

SGMC is currently hiring registered nurses and other licensed professionals to work at the Smith Northview location. Click here to apply.
