His surgical expertise includes advanced robotic procedures for lung cancer, pleural diseases, and first rib resections.
Originally from Brazil, Dr. Oliveira earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba. He began his career as a military physician before pursuing advanced surgical training in the United States. His journey included a General Surgery internship at the Mayo Clinic, a residency at the University of North Carolina, and a Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship at the University of Utah. His training also spans institutions in Canada and Europe, reflecting a global perspective on cardiac care.
Dr. Oliveira’s approach to medicine is deeply personal and patient-focused. Inspired by his parents—both healthcare professionals—and mentored by world-renowned cardiac surgeons, he believes in treating every patient with the same care and respect he would offer his own family. His guiding principle, “The needs of the patient come first,” reflects his commitment to building trust and delivering exceptional outcomes.
Drawn to SGMC Health for its strong community values and collaborative environment, Dr. Oliveira is excited to serve the Valdosta region. He and his wife, Emily, relocated to South Georgia and are eager to build a life rooted in connection, service, and exploration.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Oliveira enjoys tennis, soccer, snowboarding, and travel, and looks forward to learning golf and exploring the region.
