Dr. Anthony D’Abarno is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in total joint replacement, trauma care, and general orthopedic surgery. He treats a wide range of conditions, from fractures and dislocations to advanced arthritis requiring hip or knee replacement. His clinical passion lies in joint replacement surgery, where he utilizes advanced techniques like kinematic alignment and enhanced recovery protocols to help patients return to their lives faster and with less pain.
Dr. D’Abarno believes in a patient-centered approach rooted in trust, honesty, and shared decision-making. He takes the time to understand each patient’s goals — whether it’s returning to work, enjoying time with family, or simply walking without discomfort — and partners with them every step of the way, from diagnosis through recovery.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. D’Abarno earned his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at Franciscan Health in Chicago. His training included rotations through five major trauma centers, providing him with a rigorous, hands-on foundation in orthopedic care. He went on to complete a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Geisinger in Pennsylvania, where he focused exclusively on hip and knee replacements, including robotic and technology-assisted procedures.
Dr. D’Abarno chose SGMC Health for its strong leadership, growth potential, and commitment to advancing orthopedic care while staying deeply connected to the community. He’s excited to contribute to the development of an adult reconstruction program and to serve the people of South Georgia.
Outside of medicine, Dr. D’Abarno enjoys fitness, weightlifting, sports, and spending time outdoors. He’s also an avid reader with interests in science, design, and philosophy. He and his wife, Fernanda, are proud parents to two young sons, Michael and Noah.
