Emergency Services

If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 9 – 1 – 1.

The Emergency Department (ED) provides patients with a high level of care when they need it most. Equipped to handle almost every type of critical and emergency situation, the ED treats over 60,000 patients a year. The facility has 40 beds, all with state-of-the-art equipment. An on-site helipad provides rapid transfer of patients with life-threatening conditions.

The ED is a Certified Primary Stroke Center. SGMC also has the only open heart surgery program in the region. The Stroke Team and Cardiovascular Team treat many life-threatening emergencies right here in Valdosta.

Patient experience is very important to us in the Emergency Department.  We are dedicated to making your visit a pleasant one.  Please feel free to email us at Ed_Physicians@sgmc.org and tell us how we are doing.
