Posted on: February 23rd, 2015

Valdosta, GA – South Georgia Medical Center’s Health Information Management Release of Information (medical records) is moving to the SGMC Smith Northview Campus at 4280 North Valdosta Road on March 2. Services in the new location will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Release of Information office can be reached at 229.433.8055.For the past twenty years, persons needing copies of medical records made requests at a small window next to Medical Records on the SGMC Main Campus first floor. By relocating this service to the North Valdosta Road location, the larger and improved ROI office will provide more privacy and easier access for patients needing medical records for insurance claims, physician referrals and other uses. Regardless of which facility you use for services, all medical records will be accessible at the SGMC Smith Northview Campus and will no longer be available at the main campus.According to Randy Sauls, SGMC CEO, the growth in electronic health records has made it easier than ever to make this transition as the majority of records are stored and retrieved electronically. “The office move is part of SGMC’s efforts to improve the patient’s experience within our organization from start to finish,” he said. Additionally, SGMC has a secure online patient portal, MyChart, which allows patients to create and access their personal health record anytime, anywhere.
