Moore Named SGMC Chief Financial Officer

South Georgia Medical Center is pleased to welcome John Moore, CPA, to its senior leadership team as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the health system.

Moore comes to Valdosta with more than 25 years’ experience in accounting and finance within various well-renowned health systems. For the last two years, Moore has served as the Hospital Chief Financial Officer at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Moore earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration where he majored in accounting from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Moore also is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas.

Moore explained that he is excited to join SGMC during this time.

“I am also excited about the future opportunities that lay ahead. Healthcare is complex and always changing, and being able to help guide SGMC for long-term financial success is extremely appealing. I have been blessed to work with successful healthcare systems, and I plan on bringing best practices that would benefit SGMC,” says Moore.

Moore stated that he is looking forward to moving to Valdosta, which reminds him of Ennis, Texas the town he grew up in.

“I am looking forward to joining a great hospital and community. I like the size of Valdosta, and the opportunity to be able to make a difference with South Georgia Medical Center,” explained Moore.

Moore has two children ages 13 and 12. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, golf, hiking, bicycling and football.
