Jackson Joins SGMC as Chief Nursing Officer

Tamara “Tami” Jackson Valdosta, GA – South Georgia Medical Center announces that Tamara “Tami” Jackson has joined its leadership team in the role of Chief Nursing Officer. Jackson will have responsibility for inpatient and outpatient nursing throughout the South Georgia Health System.

She is an experienced healthcare administrator having worked for many years as a nurse, chief nursing officer, senior vice-president for operations and chief executive officer in both Ohio and Georgia hospitals.“I am excited to serve with the SGMC leadership team to implement strategic goals and progressive changes on behalf of our patients and community,” Jackson said.

“I support and encourage a culture of engagement and collaboration between management, affiliated physicians and staff that will foster high-quality care and services for all.”Jackson most recently served as Chief Executive Officer for the Northside Medical Center Campus of Columbus Regional Health System in Columbus, Ga. While there, she developed strategy and led interdisciplinary teams focused on transitioning the former Hughston Orthopedic Hospital into a full-service acute care hospital.

She is familiar with regulatory compliance including State and Federal laws, The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Georgia State Board of Nursing. Jackson is a strong advocate for nurses and has successfully implemented programs to reward and retain nurses and improve job satisfaction.

SGMC CEO Randy Sauls says, “Tami brings to our organization specific experience and success in staff development, organizational leadership, process redesign and change management in addition to extensive knowledge of nursing operations. SGMC anticipates that she will help lead our patient care services team to the next stage of excellence.”

Jackson is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is Board Certified in Nursing Administration and holds the credentials (CNAA, BC) in addition to her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bowling Green State University and her Masters of Science in Nursing from the Medical College of Ohio. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Nursing at the University of Toledo.
