Where is SGMC Urgent Care located?

SGMC Urgent Care is located at 4280 North Valdosta Road.   

Do I need to make an appointment to visit SGMC Urgent Care?

No appointments are necessary. Walk right in during normal business hours which are Monday through Sunday, 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Patients will be seen in the order in which they arrived.

When is it appropriate to visit SGMC Urgent Care?

SGMC Urgent Care provides walk-in medical care for minor, non-emergent injuries and illnesses for patients age 24 months and up. Conditions commonly treated at Urgent Care include:
  • UTIs 
  • Childhood Illnesses (24 months and up)
  • Cold or flu symptoms 
  • Sore throats 
  • Viral illnesses 
  • Cuts, bruises and burns 
  • Dehydration (IV treatments) 
  • Ear and eye infections 
  • Headaches and migraines 
  • Strains 
  • Respiratory infections 
  • Rashes 
  • Minor fractures 
  • Sprains 
Urgent Care also offers lab tests which can be performed during the exam such as urine dipsticks, hemoccult, rapid strep, pregnancy, flu A&B, and fingerstick hemoglobin and glucose.

What if I need other lab work?

Other lab work requires a physician’s order and can be drawn during regular SGMC Outpatient Plaza walk-in lab hours. The lab in the SGMC Outpatient Plaza will be open for outpatient business Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 5:00pm. The Outpatient Plaza lab is closed on weekends.

Does the SGMC Urgent Care perform X-rays?

Routine X-Rays are available at Urgent Care. CT, MRI, and any other diagnostic imaging will not be done in Urgent Care. Any patient who needs such testing will need to have orders given from Urgent Care physician and an appointment scheduled.

Is there anything you cannot treat at SGMC Urgent Care?

SGMC Urgent Care will not treat serious conditions including trauma, chest pain, strokes, heart attacks, severe abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and other emergent health conditions. If you think you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911. If a person with a serious medical problem presents at SGMC Urgent Care by mistake, he or she will be transported by EMS to SGMC’s Main Emergency Department.

Does SGMC Urgent Care treat children?

Yes. SGMC Urgent Care welcomes patients from the age of 24 months to adult. Younger children will need to be seen at Youth Care (Monday – Friday 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday 9:30 am to 4:30 pm; excepting all major holidays) or the SGMC Main ER which is open 24-7.

What kind of doctors are at SGMC Urgent Care?

Providers are Board Certified affiliated Physicians assisted by experienced healthcare staff. Some or all of the health care professionals performing services in this hospital are independent contractors and are not hospital agents or employees. Independent contractors are responsible for their own actions and the hospital shall not be liable for the acts or omissions of any such independent contractors.

What do I need to bring with me when I visit SGMC Urgent Care?

When you visit Urgent Care, please bring a form of identification, your insurance card and a form of payment. SGMC offers convenient payment options including cash, check, or credit card. Insurance co-payments are due at time of service.

What insurance plans does SGMC Urgent Care accept?

Urgent Care accepts most major insurance plans including Medicare and Medicaid and self-pay. SGMC Urgent Care will confirm insurance eligibility at patient check-in. It is SGMC’s policy to collect payment of co-pays, deductibles, and deposits for services rendered at the time you check in for your visit. Insurance plan details will vary depending on the particular policies. Each visit to the office is billed to your insurance company by our billing office.

How much will my urgent care visit cost if I don't have health insurance?

It is SGMC’s policy to collect payment for services rendered at the time of check in. If you do not have insurance coverage, a minimum of $50 will be required at check in.

Patients unable to pay at time of service will be referred to Patient Financial Services. If a patient meets presumptive eligibility for Medicaid or is approved for financial assistance, the patient will receive a letter and then may be seen at Urgent Care without making the minimum payment. The approval for financial assistance at Urgent Care is valid for one month’s time. Patient Financial Services can be reached at 229-333-1040.

Does SGMC Urgent Care provide medication refills?

No, maintenance medications for pain, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. must come from your Primary Care Provider.
