Emergency Services

If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 9 - 1 - 1.

The Emergency Department (ED) provides patients with a high level of care when they need it most. Designed to handle almost every type of emergent and critical care situation, the ED treats nearly 60,000 patients a year. The facility is equipped with 40 acute care beds, all with state-of-the-art bedside monitoring equipment. An on-site helipad provides rapid transfer of patients with life-threatening conditions.

The ED is a Certified Primary Stroke Center and SGMC has the only open heart surgery program in the region. The Stroke Team and Heart and Vascular Team are always available to treat life-threatening cardiac emergencies.

Patient experience is very important to us in the Emergency Department.  We are dedicated to making your visit a pleasant one.  Please feel free to email us at Ed_Physicians@sgmc.org and tell us how we are doing.
