Lynn Correll is a living testament to the importance of early detection with breast cancer.

She always took care of herself, making sure she did self-checks and annual mammograms. In September 2017, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“It definitely took me by surprise,” Lynn said. “There was no history of breast cancer in my family.”

After her diagnosis, her surgeon, Dr. Dallas Miller, suggested she go meet with the physicians and staff at SGMC’s Pearlman Cancer Center. He also reminded her that if she wanted a second opinion, now was the time.

“I met with the team at the Pearlman Cancer Center the very next day,” Lynn said.

“After meeting with them, I felt like Pearlman was a top-notch facility. I didn’t want to travel to receive treatment.”

She received chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery to treat her breast cancer.

“This was where I wanted to be treated,” she said. “I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I love SGMC.”
