Hospice Care

By definition, hospice care is provided at “home” where family, friends, and/or hired caregivers tend to patients with limited life expectancies. These caregivers provide round-the-clock care while receiving support and instruction from the Hospice staff. The primary goal of hospice care is to control pain and other symptoms so patients can be as alert and comfortable as possible.

Referrals to Hospice

When cancer patients no longer respond to curative treatments, their physician will refer them to hospice care. It is important for patients and families to discuss their wishes with your physician on which hospice will meet their needs.
