Valdosta, Ga- The Stone Creek Ladies Golf Association recently presented a check for $5,500 to the South Georgia Medical Center Foundation which benefits SGMC’s Pearlman Cancer Center. The funds represent the donations of 44 businesses and individuals who were hole sponsors in the 2015 annual invitational golf tournament held October 15 at Stone Creek Golf Club. “We are so grateful for the support of our generous hole sponsors and our tournament participants who allow us to donate these funds back into the community in support of breast cancer programs at SGMC,” said Gail James, the 2015 president of the Stone Creek Ladies Golf Association.

The annual tournament coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This donation will be used to advance Pearlman’s breast cancer programs including nurse navigation, patient education, and lymphedema services, in addition to the well-established survivorship program. According to Bridgett Young, director of cancer services at Pearlman Cancer Center, these programs “use the donated funds to provide breast cancer patients with the resources, education and assistance needed during their journey.

From diagnosis through survivorship, the individualized care provided assures that the best possible outcomes are achieved.”Since 2009, the donations from hole sponsors and tournament participants have enabled the Stone Creek Ladies Golf Association to present over $25,000 to the Pearlman Cancer Center in support of breast cancer programs.
