SGMC Nurses Receive Excellence Awards

Posted on: June 21st, 2016

Nursing, or Patient Care Services as it is commonly called, is a vitally important function in all healthcare organizations. SGMC employs 1,079 employees within the Nursing division. SGMC would not be successful without the many contributions of our patient care technicians (PCTs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and registered nurses (RNs) who deliver hands-on care. SGMC would like to say “thank you” for their daily sacrifices and commitments. In celebration of Nurse’s Week, SGMC asked nurses and nursing support staff to nominate one RN, LPN and CNA/PCT for a Nursing Excellence Award. The winners, Ansley Taylor, PCT II at Youthcare, Laura Berard, RN on MSICU and Amanda Harlan, LPN on 5W, received a gift basket and $300 credit for continuing education. These individuals were also recognized as “Hospital Heroes” by the Hospital Authority of Valdosta Lowndes County, GA. Peer nominations included a description of the individual’s patient care style, individual personality and exemplary work ethic.
