Pearlman Cancer Center and Dentists Team Up to Help Patients

Posted on: March 17th, 2014

Advanced Dental Care physicians Barclay Woodward, Bill Moorman and Ashley Moorman with their staff and Pearlman Cancer Center Representatives. Last fall, the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) selected South Georgia Medical Center’s Pearlman Cancer Center  (PCC) to receive ASTRO’s 2013 Survivor Circle grant. As a grant recipient, the Pearlman Cancer Center was one of two Georgia hospitals selected to receive $8,000 to provide direct support for cancer patients.  Physicians and staff identified a need for grant money to help patients with head and neck cancers as well as other cancer patients who need dental care. The program provides up to $500 per patient for dental services, particularly in preparation for cancer treatment.  As a result of the process, and through the helpful consideration of Advanced Dental Care, the first patient has been treated with grant funds.  SGMC is grateful to the following affiliated dentists who are participating in the dental care support program:  Fernando Alvarado, Bo Broadfoot, Brad Bynum, Eric Castor, Nelson Clements, Sherry Colvin, Timothy Grantham, Matthew Carter, Heather Colson Hardy, Brett Hester, Jason Holloway, Mili Hunt, Joseph Kirbo, Jason Lairsey, Edwin Lamb, Ashley Moorman, Bill Moorman, Ronald Reagin, John Roan, Ron Shiver, Joel Stites, Scott Summers, J. Shane Wood, and Barclay Woodward.
