CT scans reveal both bone and soft tissues, including organs, muscles, and tumors. Image tones can be adjusted to highlight tissues of similar density, and the data from multiple cross-sections can be assembled into 3-D images. CTs assist in diagnosis, surgery and treatments.

SGMC newest advanced CT machine is the first Volume Computed Tomography (VCT) system. The Lightspeed VCT captures images of a beating heart in 5 heartbeats, the image of an organ in one second and scans whole-body trauma in 10 seconds! Fast scans help ease patient anxiety but more importantly can be essential in helping physicians diagnosing trauma, heart disease, stroke and chest pain.
