Outpatient Center
SGMC’s Outpatient Center (OPC) operates 24-hours a day and serves several purposes:
- Admission Registration for Outpatient Surgery or Procedures
- Surgical Pre-Op
- Youth Care
- After-Hours Visitation
Admission Registration for Outpatient Surgery or Procedures
On surgery day, patients check into the center early in the morning and return home later that day. The Outpatient Nursing Unit has 24 private patient rooms, a satellite laboratory and X-ray facilities. The OPC is also the registration point for persons with physicians’ orders for most diagnostic tests, including radiology tests, cardiac caths, nutritional education, GI Lab procedures and pain management.
Surgery Pre-Op
Persons scheduled for surgery should come to the OPC for a pre-operative consult prior to the day of surgery. Pre-op consists of registration, diagnostic testing, consultation and instructions for the day of surgery.
Youth Care
SGMC Affiliated Pediatricians see patients after-hours for minor illnesses and injuries. - Read More
After-Hours Visitation
Since the OPC operates around the clock, it serves as the after-hours visitors’ entry to the hospital. Because sick patients need their rest, visitors are asked to check in with the OPC Security officer and get permission to visit from the patient’s nurse. If visitation is allowed, visitors will receive a badge before they are permitted to go to the floors. View our Visitation Policy.
