Digestive Diseases
South Georgia Medical Center’s Endoscopy Lab operates a regional digestive disease center, staffed by a team of expertly trained, caring professionals and board certified physicians treating patients with disorders of the esophagus, stomach, colon, liver and pancreas. The Endoscopy Lab is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The Center is conveniently located on the 3rd floor, East wing of SGMC.
The Endoscopy Lab sees scheduled patients during the week for both inpatient and outpatient tests and has a call team available for after-hours and weekends for emergent cases. Patients seen in the Endoscopy Lab may have symptoms that include:
- Abdominal Pain
- Colitis
- Diarrhea
- Heartburn
- Liver Disorders
- Pancreatic Disease
- Constipation
- GI Bleeding
- Indigestion
Endoscopy Lab Team
The practitioners in the Endoscopy Lab include gastroenterologists, pulmonologists and surgeons.
Other staff include registered nurses, trained endoscopy technicians, a posting coordinator and equipment technicians.

The day of your procedure.
- Please present to the Outpatient Center and check in at the Registration Desk. They will then send you to the Endoscopy Lab on the Third 3 Floor. Directions from the Outpatient Center: Take the outpatient hallway, heading to the main lobby of the hospital. Take a left from the hallway to the main lobby where the elevators are located. Take the elevators to the 3rd Floor. Take a right off the elevators and go down the hallway to the GI Entrance (Signs are posted).
- Please plan to arrive an hour and a half prior to your scheduled procedure time to allow for registration, pre-procedural prep time and paperwork. In the event of an emergent case, you may experience a delay in your appointment.
- Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.
- Please bring a list of your current medications including the strength of the medication and frequency you take the medication with you to your scheduled appointment. This includes any over-the-counter medication, vitamins and herbal medicines.
- Please do not bring children under the age of 12.
- Please bring a family member/designated driver to be present and remain with you during the procedure at the hospital. Please no more than two per patient. For your safety you MUST have a driver to transport you home!
Parking
You may park directly outside of the Outpatient Center entrance to give you the best parking situation.
