On Tuesday, February 9th, Louis Smith Memorial Hospital sent 10 staff members to district training to learn about hospital emergency decontamination practices.
The 2-day training event prepared the participants for receiving and treating patients contaminated by a chemical exposure. Hospitals from Tift, Ben-Hill, Irwin, Lanier, Berrien, Cook and Lowndes Counties sent staff. Those in attendance from Louis Smith Hospital were: Lisa Fletcher, Laila James, Dawn Powell, Tammy McGee, Kristen Ley, Becky Thompson, Carolyn Thomas, Johnathan Fender, Randy Patten, & Bill Wilson.
This training was sponsored by Tift Regional Medical Center. The University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia provided the instructors and facility.
