Medical
Office Building /
Ambulatory Surgery Center
South Georgia Medical Center had a ground breaking
ceremony for the new Medical Office Building (MOB) and Ambulatory Surgery
Center (ASC) in May 2007. The new facilities will occupy
the former Sallas-Mahone school property on North Patterson
Street.
The new Medical office Building will replace the
current Doctors' Office Building. It will be a 75,749 square foot
structure that will house lease space for up to 20 office suites
(depending on size), as well as a satellite laboratory facility,
retail space and SGMC's Cardiac Rehab facility. The 3-story
structure is estimated to take 12 months to complete.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center will be a free-standing
outpatient surgery center for same-day surgical procedures. SGMC
will be moving four operating rooms and one cystoscopy room from the
current location in the Surgical Services department to the new ASC.
The ASC is expected to open in early summer,
2008. An additional 490 parking spaces will serve individuals using
either facility.
