South Georgia Medical Center
operates one of the busiest Emergency departments in the region. Our
state-of-the-art facility is open 24-hours a day and provides a full range
of emergency medical services.
The 19-bed Emergency department and its adjacent
14-bed Chest Pain Center/Clinical Decision Unit and 9-bed Fast Track,
serve approximately 3,800 patients each month. From minor accidents
and illnesses to serious traumas, our patients are cared for by
highly-trained medical professionals using sophisticated technology.
SGMC’s affiliated Emergency physicians have expertise in many areas of
medical specialty.
While emergency care is not “quick” care, SGMC uses
advanced technology, such as the McKesson® Patient Location Tracker and
Picture Archiving and Communication® (PACS), to get patients diagnosed and
through the system as fast as possible. Our average length-of-stay is 3
hours and 20 minutes from registration to discharge.
SGMC is committed to quality patient care. Internal
initiatives and ongoing staff education place a high level of importance
on patient satisfaction and process improvement. Patient dignity,
privacy and comfort are important components of care that we emphasize in
our treatment delivery models and in our unique facility
design.
If an emergency strikes, rest assured the qualified
affiliated physicians and staff at SGMC will be standing by to serve you.
