South Georgia Medical Center Emergency Department Visits Dewar Elementary for Teddy Bear Clinic

Posted on: October 17th, 2011

On Tuesday, October 11, members of the SGMC Emergency Department provided a mobile Teddy Bear Clinic for several classes at Dewar Elementary School. Students brought their stuffed animals in for a check-up, while ED nurses discussed safety and health promotion. SGMC brought a special visitor, the Cat in the Hat, who read a safety story to the students. According to Jennifer Stevick, ED Assistant Director, “We see so many tragic events in the ED and this was a great opportunity to educate the younger members of our community. Our goal was to take injury prevention and health promotion to them, rather than providing it after they come visit us!”
