SGMC Adjusts Facility Schedules & Postpones Elective Surgeries

With the impending Tropical Storm Hermine, South Georgia Medical Center, its campuses and affiliates are adjusting hours of operation for Friday, September 2. On Friday, SGMC’s Mobile Healthcare Services and the Emergency Departments at the Main, Lanier and Berrien Campuses plan to remain open to care for patients. SGMC Urgent Care will open at 10am pending the severity of the weather. Inpatient care will continue at all SGMC facilities including the Langdale Hospice House; however, elective surgeries are postponed. Many business occupancies such as Wound Healing, Healthcare South, Occupational & Industrial Medicine and the Diabetes Management Center will be closed. SGMC is communicating with the Lowndes Emergency Operations Center and has opened its own Incident Command Center to monitor and direct activities related to the impending storm.SGMC reminds residents that hospitals are not shelter sites. Individuals seeking shelter are directed to refer to their county emergency management agency shelter locations.
