In honor of National EMS Week, SGMC would like to recognize David Bauch, SGMC EMS Director. Chief Bauch has proudly served the Lowndes, Lanier and Echols county region for over 30 years, with the past five years as EMS Chief guiding nearly 80 paramedics and EMT’s on a daily basis. Chief Bauch holds a strong commitment and dedication to SGMC and the community in an effort to provide the most up to date equipment and training so that when an emergency happens, our staff can and will respond with the knowledge, skills, training and technology to handle whatever comes their way.

Chief Bauch is an active participant in the EMS Region 8 Director’s Association, Echols, Lanier and Lowndes County Board of Commissioner Meetings, as well as, Lowndes Safe Kids program. Chief Bauch is a strong advocate and supporter of preceptor training with EMS students from Wiregrass Technical College and offers support from every direction to make sure students are given opportunities to learn and expand their skills by providing competent preceptors and clinical experiences.

SGMC EMS covers a total population of approximately 128,000 (Lowndes, Lanier and Echols Counties combined) and 1132 square mile area, responding to approximately 1700 emergency calls monthly. To say the least, Chief Bauch has a full plate, but delivers each and every day to assure the best emergency services are provided to the citizens of South Georgia.
