Maurice Solis, MD Elected President of the Georgia Vascular Society

Maurice Soils, MD Valdosta, GA- Maurice M. Solis, MD, FACS has been elected president of the Georgia Vascular Society (GVS). GVS is a statewide membership organization established in 2012 for the purpose of promoting the science and art of the diagnosis and management of peripheral vascular disease to encourage research and education in the field, and to improve and maintain peripheral vascular surgery.Dr. Solis, a peripheral vascular and endovascular surgeon for over 25 years, is currently in practice in Valdosta, Georgia.  He serves as the Chief of Services for the Chief of the Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Service at SGMC.  “The Georgia Vascular Society has become an important forum for vascular surgeons to learn and discuss innovative treatments available for vascular patients,” said Solis.  “I am honored to be recognized by my peers and serve as president this year,” said Solis. Prior to his position at SGMC, Dr. Solis practiced in Macon, Georgia, where he was the Director of Peripheral Vascular Services at Macon Cardiovascular Institute and the Medical Center of Central Georgia.  He was also previously Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery and Intervention at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon.  Dr. Solis is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Vascular Surgery.  He received the 1990-91 American Venous Forum Research award.  He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery.  The SGMC CardioVascular Institute is located in the SGMC Professional Building at 2409 North Patterson Street, Suite 230.  For more information on services  provided by the SGMC CardioVascular Institute, please visit www.sgmc.org/cvi or call 229.259.4369.
